Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 18 July 2026
These terms cover your use of peterholgate.com and any book pre-order you place through it. By using the site or placing a pre-order, you accept them.
Who we are
This site is operated by Peter Holgate, based in Mérida, Yucatán, Mexico. Contact: peter@clockworkleague.com.
Book pre-orders
Books ordered through this site are pre-orders.
- No payment is taken at the time of ordering. Submitting the form places a reservation, not a completed purchase.
- We will contact you by email before any payment is due, with the final price, delivery cost and expected shipping date.
- A pre-order is not confirmed until we accept it. We may decline or cancel a pre-order, for example if a title does not go to print, or we cannot ship to your location, and if any payment has been taken by then, it is refunded in full.
- Prices shown are indicative and may change before a pre-order is confirmed. You will never be charged more than the price you agreed.
Cancelling a pre-order
You can cancel at any time before it ships, at no cost, by emailing peter@clockworkleague.com. If you have already paid, we refund in full.
Delivery
Delivery times are estimates, not guarantees. Risk passes to you on delivery. Any customs or import duties are your responsibility.
Returns
If a book arrives damaged or is not what you ordered, email us within 30 days of delivery and we will replace it or refund it. Where you have a statutory right to cancel a distance purchase, that right applies in addition to this.
The newsletter
The Buccaneer's Broadside is free. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email. We may change its frequency or stop publishing it.
Content and intellectual property
Everything on this site, the writing, the books, the podcast, the branding - belongs to Peter Holgate unless stated otherwise. You may read it, quote short extracts with attribution, and share links. You may not republish it in bulk or present it as your own.
No advice relationship
The writing on this site is general commentary about running agencies. It is not consulting, legal, financial or tax advice, and reading it does not create a client relationship. Decisions you make about your business remain yours.
Liability
We keep the site accurate and available as best we can, but do not guarantee it is error-free or always reachable. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the site or its content. Nothing here limits liability for death, personal injury, or fraud.
Changes
We may update these terms; the date at the top shows when. The terms in force when you place a pre-order are the ones that apply to it.
Law
These terms are governed by the laws of Mexico. Statutory consumer rights in your own country of residence still apply.
